From January
1st 2007, The Pitcairn Islands Office introduced a collectible coin programme for the
many people interested in the Pitcairn Islands.
The programme commenced with the commemorative coin for the
Queen’s 80th birthday, and will offer each year a small
number of releases highlighting historical, cultural and
international events and natural history, relevant to
Pitcairn.
All coins minted are approved by the Pitcairn Island Office and
will have received Royal approval from Buckingham Palace. Each coin
will graphically carry the release topic and feature on the
obverse, a fine effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
The make-up of the coins will vary with different mintings,
however the majority will be available in Cupro Nickel and Proof
Sterling Silver. Precious metal coins will be presented complete
with a Certificate of Authenticity.
